About

After completing an 8,000-hour apprenticeship in machining and toolmaking, James worked as a fitter and turner building machines used to produce steel framing for housing and modular construction. This provided a strong understanding of engineering materials, fabrication, and practical hands-on construction experience.

James then developed a strong interest in structural engineering and went on to study at Unitec NZ and the University of Auckland, earning a Diploma in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).

Since then, James has gained extensive experience in the structural design of residential buildings and retaining walls, as well as construction monitoring and compliance reporting. Northside Structural provides practical, professional structural engineering services for residential projects. Get in touch to find out how we can assist with your project.
